RoadTrip: the Slow Touring Network

“RoadTrip shows how small venues, when connected, can create big opportunities—bringing artists and audiences together through green, slow, meaningful touring.”

The Road Trip Network was the outcome of a pilot year supported by the European Union through the Live MX grant. The initiative laid the foundations for a more efficient and environmentally conscious touring model in Europe. The project worked to ensure long-term functionality, shared responsibility, and clear communication among all participating venues.

The kick-off meeting was followed by 5 online occasions where partners could exchange ideas and experiences and strengthen the network. There was an active and hopeful attitude from the get-go:

RoadTrip Results

The primary outcome is a functional, cross-border slow-touring network supported by a simple block-booking system. Other organisations can adopt this model to support greener, more cost-efficient artist mobility.

Plans for the Future

We created a model for cooperation, gave tools such as shared workspace with different assets for the partners. This will all help us to continue operating the network. We are also integrating RoadTrip into our future collaboration ideas. Key takeaways include: the value of a network, the importance of regional cooperation, and the strong appetite for sustainable solutions and touring formats.
